For those of you who didn't see it, The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung defeated Leonard Garcia by way of "The Twister". As if this were'nt interesting enough, shortly thereafter Ryron and Rener Gracie offered their breakdown of the technique in their very popular Gracie Breakdown show. But wait… there's more, in the breakdown, they actually gave credit to Eddie "The Twister" Bravo, for popularizing and introducing this technique to the Jiu-jitsu world from the Highschool Wrestling rooms from whence it came.
This is historic simply because it is rare to see camps act in such a professional and academic manner. Giving credit and sharing sources with the greater community and other technique nerds (such as myself) who may be interested in digging deeper and researching how various moves are passed on from one generation to another.
Below is Eddie Bravo's take on the Twister and how things transpired during the Jung/Garcia fight complete with a gracious acknowledgement of the Gracie Camp's recognition.

OfflineHey Dr.Sick, You know how much I love Eddie Bravo and the whole 10th Planet system. I was watching the fight night with my buddy and I saw the twister set up. I started shouting 'Twister. . . . TWISTER!!!!!' My buddy was looking at me as if I had lost my mind, he had no idea what I was talking about. All the grappling he knows is from what he's seen in the UFC. I literally jumped out of my chair when Chan Sung Jung put the arm behind his head. It was an amazing finish.
I was totally distraught. I saw the Gracie breakdown was up on youtube in the morning but I didn't have time to watch it and decided I would watch it when I got home from work. I was disgusted to find that Zuffa had closed down the Gracies youtube channel. I never got to see the Gracie's breakdown but I heard nothing but rave reviews about it. I'm glad to hear them giving props to Eddie for popularising the technique.
It was also great to see Eddie thanking the Gracie's too. For all the flack Eddie gets from Gracie supporters I've never seen him say even one bad thing about any Gracie member. I've only ever seen him speak highly of all the Gracie's and the Machado's.
I was always of the impression that the twister was derived from Catch wrestling. I thought it was Lou Thesz who had a move similar called the cobra twist or something similar. If you get to speak to coach Billy Robinson or Jake Shannon you might be able to let us know the real story and name he referred to it as.
