OfflineI wanted to start a thread and see what some of your guys are doing off of catching the rear round. Either in MMA or Muay Thai. I also think it would make for a good video series, a 'how to' on catching kicks, then a 'what to do next' once you are there.
Personally, I prefer a simple sweep, either kicking their base leg out while pushing on the side of their head, or lifting the leg up and pulling it back while putting a pushing punch either in their face or in their chest to put them on their back. Another move I like every once in a while… and it ties into the 'attacking the leg' series, if I am holding their leg near the ankle on my left side, I will pivot in (CCW), shrug my shoulder up to protect against their punches and knee the back of the leg at the sciatic nerve above the knee. If you are grabbing at the knee, it can be a bit hard to hit though, but you are right there to feed a downward elbow to their thigh and cause some damage that way. Either way, after one of those strikes, I will go to the sweep or throw the leg out… away from my left side and use that wind up to throw a lead hook (body or head), or a lead round kick to the body or head (look at Dan Hornbuckle in Sengoku for a great example of the toss leg to head kick).
What else are you guys using off of this position?

OfflineI think a straight right cross(Anderson Silva style)is the most natural move for me. I remember being taught a great throw from this position years ago. I think it was with the arm being under the leg. From there you reach across the body and grab the back of their head. (you don't keep the arm to the outside of their body. It goes diagonally across their body and hoks the back of their head like a goosehead) Hope you still understand me. Its difficult for me to describe. From there you rotate inward quickly and you can do a low kick or just a gak to the lower shin of the standing leg. It is good. Sorry if this post makes no sense.
It's funny you mention this. We've been running a series from this position for the last 3 years with a lot of different stuff. Mostly from the defensive perspective but some stuff from the offensive.
Below are the options we've shown so far including a brand new article we just published and an old classic series taught by Sensei Erik Paulson before Taking It To The MMAT and Damage Control MMA ever existed:
