Kumusta Doc,

You told me to remind you for a series for on-beat and off-beat counters. It's great to hear you took interest as this topic is rarely covered in many instructionals. It would be much appreciated (and equally anticipated!). Thank you very much in advance.

Regards!

Keep me honest in here.  If we don't get this up in the next month or two remind me again, and then again until it gets finished.  I know that sounds like a long time and I apologize but the Solo Series will take some time to edit.  Planning this series will take some time, shooting it then editing it and putting it up on here will all take time.  I don't want to make you wait too long but I also want to give you a realistic timeline for a custom request.

I'm loving how the members are starting to come to life.  This is what we've been waiting for!

We just finished shooting the solo series (which may be amended later or appended).

And to make sure I understand your request properly.  I would consider say, a "True Right Cross" or a "Split Jab" on beat counters whereas I would consider an Uppercut an off beat or second beat counter.  Let me know if I've got it right or if I've mistaken your meaning here.

After the On Beat Off Beat Series, we've agreed to shoot bottom 69 escapes.  I'm posting that here too so I won't forget.

Yup! Sounds like we're on the same page with the on/off beat idea. Thanks for the timeline. I appreciate the critical analysis for each technique you guys put up. This is the winning characteristic of this site as it let's us best acquire as much skill as we can from distance learning.

Edric, we're closing in on finishing up the Solo Training Series.  We've got a few weeks still but I'd like to start crystalizing ideas for this series for you.  My dilema is that what you've asked for is such a general concept.  We could literally spend an entire lifetime discussing the various counters for each and every strike in the book.

So to help me out a little, did you have a specific technique in mind that we could discuss possible counters for.  For instance we did a Jab Counter series (although we didn't specifically break down timings… though they were definitely present).  Do you have a particular strike in mind?

This sounds like an awesome series. I would love to see this. The Jab counters were sweet. Most of my game is centred around countering. I'm definitely a counter fighter!

I'm very ineterested in this topic also.  Broken rhythm, stop hit etc…   I would like to see drills and concepts on how to see between my opponents strikes.  Anderson Silva at times has been amazing with his on beat off beat approach to striking.  Thank you for your great website, it has definately added alot to my game.

I will post the first of this series this week.  I appologize for the delay in getting this request put together.  What I've realized is that in responding to requests we have a choice.  We can either give you as thorough a response as possible at the cost of pushing back response time (Sheesh this one took a few months… sorry guys).  Or we can give a few rudimentary ideas and techniques to respond to requests and get them back to you guys quicker.  Any thoughts or feelings on how we should move forward with this would be greatly appreciated.

For instance, the current plan for the timing series is a technique list approximately 19 techniques deep.

I'm all for the thorough response because there isn't much material on this, nor is it covered much at my gym in much detail (let alone 19 techniques and concepts deep) so it would be much appreciated!

Guys, thanks so much for the feedback.  It really does help in our decision making process.  19 techs it is.  I'll be heading out to the gym in about an hour to crank up the camera and lay down a bunch of new ones.  Including the Kiser Punishment Technique adendum to the Thai Right Kick and Thai Left Kick.  You cut corners, it comes back to bite ya somewhere along the line.
