i will use this topic to add my latest fights and you guys tell me what i should have done and what i shouldnt have done so i learn something new every match,
this match was the first recorded match and it was a no contest due to an eye injury, there are no knees or elbows, so guys, tell me why do u think i got hit in eye and what should i've done in the match : http://www.4shared.com/account…..G0001.html , sorry there is no sound, idk why
MARS, This didn't look like an organized event to me. It almost looked a little like backyard brawling. Not because of the skill level so much, but moreso because of the safety precautions involved. There did not apear to be any EMTs or Paramedics, etc. on the premesis and the mats didn't look like they were made for MMA style competition.
All I am saying is that in general I try to discourage guys from participating in basement or backyard style matches. There is so much that can go wrong. And in fact it did, as you said you suffered an injury to your eye. Had something more serious occurred, there would have been little in place to protect you. As a 14 year old, you have a lot of time ahead of you to learn, and travel if necessary to fight in organized, sanctioned events if that is really what you want to do.
You don't have to fight in order to train, learn and enjoy the Mixed Martial Arts. I'm not trying to talk down to you. I just want you to enjoy your life and remain healthy and safe. You only have one body and once you start to break it down, it never comes back the same.
Best wishes.
well..true its not organized event or anything, this more like a fun sparring match,well.. sadly there isnt any MMA gyms in egypt and everyone is against it, thats why the only way i can join any mma fight is fun matches like that

OfflineHey Buddy, Dr.Sick has a great point. Safety is everything. I see you guys were wearing gloves but It was difficult to tell if you had any other protective gear on. You need a Gumshield, Shinguards and a cup at the very least. A headguard might be an idea too. MMA is a very dangerous sport and has to be totally controlled to maintain high levels of safety.
I understand it must be frustrating if there is no MMA gyms and people are against it. The problem is if you keep practicing the way you are then people will still be against it as it looks so dangerous. You need to make it look safer by using protective gear so to the onlookers may begin to accept it. If you make it safer it will look safer and everyone wins.
The sparring looked a little bit wild to be honest. You don't need to go all out. Take your time and pick your shots more. It looked very much like Tae Kwon-do. Your hands were down at your sides a lot. You need to keep them up higher. Also your stance seemed very side on. If you turned more square on it will be easier to defend against people trying to shoot in and take you down.
As Dr.Sick said, you're only 14. There's no real need for you to be sparring at the moment. There's so much you can do that will make you a better fighter other than sparring. Work on your techniques, Work on Defence, Work on footwork, Takedowns, Takedown defence, Submissions (carefully) Hold down positions, Position flow, Guard work, Guard passing, Getting the mount, getting the rear mount, use focus mitts to sharpen up your boxing, use thai pads or a punch bag to learn power striking with the legs.
If you keep working all these types of things then It will make you a more complete fighter. Sparring really needs to be done in a controlled environment with first aid qualified coaches around. By the time you have a good grasp on these basics MMA will possibly be a far more accepted sport in your area and you'll be one of it's best mixed martial artists.
Whereabouts in Egypt are you?

OfflineHey buddy, I did a quick google search and there seems to be a few MMA teams popping up in Egypt. I know Egypt is a huge place but hopefully one of them is near you and you might be able to go train in a more controlled environment!

OfflineThats unfortunate about the MMA team. I know we might sound like some old grannies on here banging on about safety but the most important thing in MMA is fighter safety. Check out these articles. They might make you think a little differently about your sparring.

Just go light with your sparring. There's no need to hurt each other or get injured. You'll likely learn a lot more and become a far better fighter as a result. I don't know if you've signed up to the members section yet but if you do then I would suggest you should check out the recent sparring demonstration video clips. They will benefit you and your training buddies.
i didnt sign up yet, i am waiting for my father to come from U.S and he pays, and you dont sound like old grannies XD even my self tell people not to join these fights, but a good fighter can protect him self, thats why i wont fight again till i learn how to duck under, avoid hits, and deffened, or else i wont learn anything from my fights, i appreciate your worry about me and my health, someone else would just say " YEA GO AGAIN AND TAKE REVENGE!!" but he just dont know how dangerous it is, i thought about learning mma separate…like.. 1 year TKD, then i go learn Muai Thai, then go learn some judo, and so on…that would help i guess
This may be hard to believe, but there was a time that "MMA" did not exist. It was called, Vale Tudo or NHB (No Holds Barred). I grew up in that era, and believe it or not, had many of the same problems you have. There were no MMA schools because it did not exist. There was one BJJ school in the area but the message of BJJ had just begun to ripple out. People still thought Royce Gracie was a fluke.
Schools were still separate and teaching isolated arts. We did what we could and that ended up looking almost identical to what you posted in your video. We all got together and sparred, medium contact, no weight classes, NHB style. Now I have the aches and pains every morning and evening to remember those days by and yet, it was a lot of fun.
What I can tell you is that there is a great opportunity in front of you. Maybe you can be the point of the spear. The first to pioneer MMA in your area. It takes time and hard work, but it can be done. I remember I used to fly up to Washington to visit my cousin who was training in BJJ. I would take classes at his gym while I stayed there for a week. I'd come back and for 6 months I'd work on the same move over and over. Mount escape, mount escape, shrimping, mount escape. That's all I knew, that's all I could work on. But I got damn good at mount escaping with just 1 move. This would continue for a year or two, working piece meal on one or two fundamentals for months on end.
You could probably do something similar. Travel to the MMA gym across the country, learn a move or two then return and drill until you can save enough to do it again. You won't learn a lot of moves really fast, but you'll get very very good at the few you do. It's a great way to start. It's how I started.
Later, gyms started poping up where you might find TKD and BJJ being taught in the same place. I was lucky enought to find one where they taught BJJ but met a Purple Belt who was also an instructor in JKD, Kali and Muay Thai. I began to study under him, and continue to study under him to this day. But through him ended up meeting Sensei Paulson and also began studying CSW. Later, my business partner and I would end up opening up our own gym and teaching CSW in our area. We were the first MMA gym in our County. Now there are "MMA Gyms" popping up on every street corner. Most of them still adhere to the Wrestling Coach Guy + A Striking Teacher Guy + A Submission Instructor Guy = MMA Gym formula. My point is, that if I can do it, so can you. But only if you have your health. There is a smart way, and a not so smart way to do it. I did the latter but am suggesting you do it the smart way and take it step by step with solid, and technical instruction.
Doing it that way you're going to learn ten times as fast, while preventing injury and not learning bad habits that you'll have to unlearn down the road.
Best of luck MARS and stay safe bro.
Well, your absolutely right in everything you said, be good at the few i do, i never thought of that, i just noticed that i do the 100% opposite, i learn many things and never try to revise them or remember them.. maybe i need a reset of techniques, meaning i start everything from the basics again and learn everything and give it its time, at the time, there is a gym that teaches Sanshou (kung fu), Muai thai, Kick boxing, its also close to me and close to the TKD Gym i go to, maybe i will go and take muai thai, but that would be 100% striking, since there is only 1 BJJ team in egypt, and they dont take kids like me (my age), so i am hopeless in BJJ, but your right, my brother started a mma Fight club in hes college, i will tell him to make it a Gym that also for people that arnt in the college.
there is 1 more thing i need to ask of you..i dont know if i should make a new topic but, i will say it here, i really fail in timing and range, i miss many hits and i hit with no timing, do you have any video that can help me in this? if not, can you give me any tips or exercises to work on?
Thanks.

"yea sure, go for it" (i kick him, he screams, i run ) ) anyway, since my last fight which was no contest and eye injury, i changed alot, i learned to give everything the time it needs. thanks for the Quote XD reminding me of that reminded me of many other things XD
