Liver body shot on an alcoholic

Hi, I just finished watching your youtube video on the liver body shot. Very interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..A7b9gBUYJU

I have one question of concern – what would be the effect of a liver
shot on an alcoholic? I was recently threatened by a neighbor who is a
heavy drinker with a nasty reputation for a short temper and starting
fights.

My first line of self defense is to avoid him or any confrontation with
him. However, I am concerned that if it came down to defending myself
against him, would a liver shot be fair game? I wouldn't feel very good
about causing his liver to fail and sending him to the ER. What is the
effect of a liver shot on someone with a 'shot liver'?

To give you an idea of the type of alcoholic I'm talking about, on
several occasions I've seen this guy on 4/5 day binges. He's 36 years
old and looks like he's over 50. So I'm pretty sure his liver is not in
good condition.

Thanks for your time and advice~

I'm not sure to be honest with you.  In case you didn't know, I'm not a real doctor Laughing I just play one on internet TV.  But, I will ask Dr. Cacciamanni, next time I see him.

But I'm sure it's safe to say, it's probably not good.  The concern I would have would be that in his drunken state, he may be able to take the pain associated with the Liver shot.  It might be a better bet to do use angular footwork and evasion since being impaired would inhibit his ability to keep up with you in that regard.

I once had to break up a fight between two drunkards (my uncle's friend and some random guy he didn't agree with, at a wedding reception). A simple reverse wrist twist and trip dropped the one and he decided to just not get up because he was wasted beyond all belief and standing up looked to be a challenge. The second guy came swinging at me, for some reason, and all I did was bob under a few wild haymakers and circle and he just gave up with a huff, because he couldn't follow me because of his alcohol impairment.

Dr Sick is right when he says simple angular footwork and more defensive work is your best option. If you're in the right mind, also, go for a quick takedown or some clinch technique. I think if he's drunk, his grappling skill, if he has any, will not be it top shape. I feel that if you were to subdue him with a hold or takedown or the like, he will either back off or at least calm down.
