I've been thinking more and more about the guard lately. I've really changed how I use it. I back in the day, I used to try to get to guard and then submit people. Now I try to get to my knees/feet and if in the process I get stopped I can usually get to guard. I try to break posture and keep that posture broken. Usually my partners understand this and fight like demons to regain and maintain posture and as soon as they do, I get back to my feet/knees again.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is that more and more often now, I'm using my guard as an intermediary step towards getting back to my knees and or feet. In the process of doing so, sometimes my partners make mistakes and I catch a sub or a sweep but more times than not, I've been using my guard to stand back up.
How have you guys been using your guard lately?

Offlineusually I get gaurd by mistake during a failed submission attempt or by design when I hesitate during the stand up phase and cannot think clearly. I tend to use my gaurd to just wait things out and get a plan together usually, the other person is freaking out rapidly trying gaurd escapes because they believe I have an agenda and a plan in place that utilizes the gaurd but i really don't; I just feel safe there and I know if i have to move I can alwayse sweep them over or try to submit them. So the gaurd in this stage of my game is nothing more than the middle ground where I can alwayse go if there is nothing else i can think of doing at the moment.
