Be easy on us wyomingites. We are new to demostration videos. Well videos period. I find it a steep learning curve. This is a little hip lock from a far knee gaurd pass that is a nice little gem.
This application can be as shown
1. with the can opener style head manipulation.
2. just weight bearing to imobilize(my instuctors favorite) or
3. using a gable grip of the underhook and over the head to really compress the body. (my preferred method)

Nice tutorial. Thanks for sharing Wylothar. Never thought of using Bulgarian Headlock on the ground like that. Because of angle, can't get your head in the neck, but the leverage still works great.
I'll ask Walt what the name of that move is and let you know what he says.
Looking forward to seeing more vids from you and your crew.

Getting the forehead in the pocket is tough but if you get it on the jaw it still is rather uncomfortable. Multiple points of discomfort to dis orient the bottom position game.

Hey Wylothar. I showed Walt the vid and he said he called it a Hip Lock. He appreciated that you gave him a mention and that you gave credit to your instructor. Very thoughtful & respectful of you.
Cheers!

Even though I have never met Mr. Bayless, he has influenced me greatly via extension with Mr. Hager. I have been training with Mr. Hager since 1996.

We got a real cool interview with Mr. Bayless one night for the old concept of "Damage Control". It never made it to the show because the audio was absolutely terrible. I might dig it up and post it here if there is any interest and you guys don't mind the hissy, low audio track.

I feel the same way. I've only known Walt personally for a few years, but he's had a big impact on my life for much longer time.
I've been fortunate to have Darius Andrews give me some lessons over the years. Darius was Walt's assistant instructor for years and helped him open their first gym in Utah in the early 90's (before UFC 1).
It's amazing how the real bad-ass martial artists are the nicest most genuine people you meet. Just like Coaches Brian & Brandon, Walt is a friendly and caring guy.
With any other instructor I'd cringe at not referring to them with a proper title & respect, but Walt would give me shit if he knew I was calling him Mr. Bayless.
