Hello everyone,

My name is Andy and I'm from Belgium.
I'm 33 years old and have been involved in martial arts since I was 14. I've practiced Kyokushin and Shotokan Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Fighting, JKD and Kali. For the last 10 years I've been focusing on self-defense, doing Tony Blauer's SPEAR and PDR system and also Senshido.

I'm married, no children and have one dog.
I'm a LEO and besides MA/SD I also like to read a good book and go to the movies.

It's a modest community at the moment but there's nothing like being able to say, I was a on this forum back when…

Wow! All the way from Belgium. How did you hear about our little website?

Best wishes to you and happy holidays!

Yep, all the way from Belgium…
Came to know you guys via Youtube, where I subscribed to your videos. Very good work if you ask me. Keep them coming please.

So dr sick, do you travel a lot from gym to gym or am I mistaken?

As much as possible… in a way.

I spend the vast majority of my time traveling to train with people from within the overall Inosanto area of influence.

I probably split my time equally between Ajarn Chai's TBA seminars, camps and affiliates and Sensei Erik Paulson's CSW seminars camps and affiliates.

I also have the privilage of training at Khuen Khru Will Bernale's gym as my primary and home gym. There I get a chance to train with a variety of BJJ Black Belts, CSW Coaches, Kali, Silat, JKD, Muay Thai and Wrestling Instructors.

On occasion, Coach Kiser's connections, and our mutual line of work allow us a chance to see some other gyms like Ken Shamrock's Lion's Den (Kiser got to go there to work with Kaycey Uscola) or Randy Couture's Xtreme Couture (which Brandon and I both went to to work with Dennis Davis).

Locally we have many friends in the area and so we try to learn as much as we can from as many of them as possible.

The Bernales Institute will always be our home and our favorite place to train and learn. If anything we try to bring back ideas to try, to learn how to counter and to unravel. We spend about 95% of our time there and only really travel and see different gyms while on business.

That's great. I must say I envy your job… :-)
It always makes me wonder why in the US people can make a living out of teaching martial arts, while here in Belgium that almost never happens.

I visited Randy Couture's and Dan Inosanto's gym last year.
Great feeling when entering the dojo.
I must say Randy Couture was a whole lot friendlier than Dan Inosanto, but having a chance to meet them was an experience in itself. While in Couture's gym I met Wanderlei Silva. Big guy but what a gentle personality.

Welcome aboard man. This place is starting to grow a bit more, that is for sure. I remember way back when, when it was Kiser, Dr. Sick, myself and one or two other people. ;-).

I wouldn't say I make a living at this at all. At least not at this point. I'm working hard to. And if you wouldn't mind helping a starving artist out by spreading the word, especially about our membership area which hasn't been released yet but we're working around the clock to get it done, I'd really appreciate that.

I still drive my parent's hand me down 98 Nissan Maxima. It ain't pretty but it gets the job done and I'm happy doing what I'm doing.

We've got 20 videos up in the membership area and we'll be shooting 4 more hours worth on Sunday (which will get cut down in editing but will still result in a significant amount of additional material for our membership library).

I'd be happy to help. If there's anything else I can do, just let me know.

And as with everything, dedication and hard work will get you there.

I hope you don't mind me calling you Brian. Unless you get a kick out of being called Dr. Sick… Now that would be sick, brother. ;-)

I assume you teach martial arts full time or am I mistaken?
