I just finished watching Shogun pick Machida apart to lose the Light Heavyweight title. Let me start by saying that Shogun's creative use of the long cover to defend against Machida's left high kick, was very cool. (I'm sure Kru Yamasaki would approve). I also liked how he didn't go headhunting…he hacked hard round kicks into Machida's legs (some excellent cut kicks) and body and also made use of some wicked elbows on the breaks. The few times he did go after Machida's head, he hit him hard, which from the looks of it surprised Machida and threw him off his game. Those leg kicks were so hard, that by the third round, Machida actually had to switch his stances several times to protect himself. I'm anxious to see what adjustments get made since they're promising a rematch, but I really think Shogun got screwed.
