There were some articles written regarding this fight both at http://www.cagepotato.com/cate…..ry/videos/ and http://www.mixedmartialarts.co…..&pc=14 and some questionable claims made by Irvin.

Why is this post here at DamageControlMMA.com?  Well, Mike Crisman spent roughly 2.5 months at Mushin training while his home gym was being relocated.  During that time we took a liking to Mike and although he had returned to his home gym to prepare for this particular fight, we hope that some of the tools he picked up while with us helped him to do some of the good things we accomplished in this fight.

For their rematch I'd suggest he work on Leg Locks to attack a standing opponent.

Irvin is a dangerous fighter, Congrats to Mike for doing so well against him. The Knee on the ground was unneeded. Don't have time at the minute but I'll comment in full later on.

If Irvin thinks he was robbed then he is dellusional. It was clearly an Illegal knee he threw. Shamrock was correct to stop the fight. Irvin should have lost this fight via disqualification. The fact it was returned as a no-contest spared Irvin from having another loss on his record. Mike was doing so well against him and I believe Irvin thought he would finish him early against the cage but he couldn't pound him out. Mike seemed to be doing a great job of standing up and was almost ready to better his position before the illegal knee. I thought Irvin would have had more class.

i don't know much about Irvin to judge his level of class (and i mean no disrespect in this), but he may have been caught in the moment.  Jon Jones did the same thing to be disqualified and that guy's got class.  again, if i'm comparing apples to oranges, then take my 2 cents for nothing.  i had to watch those few seconds a couple of times before i noticed Mike's knee still being down.

It was mostly referring to the statement he made after

Speaking of fights, your last one ended after an inadvertent illegal knee to the head of your opponent. As a result, Ken Shamrock ruled the fight a No Contest. What really went down in the cage?

Honestly, three weeks ago Ken turned down a fight with me, so as soon as I saw that he was going to be the ref I had a bad feeling. He kept coming back to the locker room to give us his version of the rules like this was my first rodeo. As for Crisman, I beat the brakes off this fool. I KO'd the guy and walked away before Shamrock even got there, and two minutes later, he says I illegally kneed him and it's a no contest. It's cool. I don't have a scratch on me, and [Gladiator Challenge promoter] Tedd Williams says I can rematch Crisman in May.

It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't so blatantly used an illegal technique.
