With a pretty stacked card (again), UFC 126 is shaping up to have some great wars going on.  that being said, what are your predictions???

Light Heavyweight: Jon "Bones" Jones (TKO strikes in 2nd) v. Ryan Bader

Bantamweight: Miguel Tores (split decision) v. Antonio Banuelos

I'm taking Vitor over Silva.  Long shot but what can I say.  I'm a believer.

Griffen over Franklin

Jones over Bader

Torres over Banuelos

Cerrone over Kelly

Ehh I don't really care about the other fights.  So I must say this is not a prediction.  I hope Belfort beats the crap out of Silva.  Simply because of the fact that Silva is so cocky and I dislike him very much because of how he treats his opponents.

I'm totally undecided about Silva-Belfort, my mind keeps changing but I think if anyone has a chance to dethrone Silva it's Vitor. I'll go with Silva though. He's so good it's difficult to bet against him.

Franklin to beat Griffin

Jones to beat Bader

Torres to beat Banuelous

Kelly to beat Cerronne

And how come no-one picked the winner of Demetrious Johnson and the UFC debuting Kid Yamamoto???

I'm going with the kid by the way, and i'm ultra excited to see how he'll fit in in the UFC.

Good night of fights to watch overall. The main event started out slow and I thought it was going to end up sucking. the first 2 1/2 minutes those guys just circled each other, but that was a pretty impressive victory KO victory for Silva for sure.

I was really impressed with the JuiJitsu of Rocha. that guy looked like a beast. He fought a quality opponent and with some more time in the league I'm betting he is going to make some more noise.

Glad to see Forrest get a win after so long away from the game.

I'm kind of bummed Evans blew out his knee. I would have liked to have seen that title fight, but the announcemnt of Jon Jones getting a tiltle shot in two months is going to create some headlines for sure.

Super boring fight with Miguel Torres playing it safe. The boos where well deserved.

Man, what a way to show that the lighter weight classes deserve a piece of the lime light.

How about that front kick, huh? Silva said he learned that from none other than Steven Segal, who was even coaching him on it right before the fight.

thats the thing. I totally want to see 135 and 145lbs on the UFC fight cards. I also have enjoyed many of Torres's fights in the past, but this one was not a good showing for him. He had an opportunity to really expand his fan base with this fight. Plenty of people watch UFC that didn't watch the WEC. I really wanted him to come in and put on a show.

I find it really hard to believe he didn't already have that kick in his bag of tricks until recently. It's a pretty common kick in muay thai and Silva has fought Muay Thai before. with that said, I like the fact that these guys are going out and learning from a wide range of martial artists. picking and chosing what they like to develop what works for them. Anderson Silva is a great martial artist. Lets see what the P4P guys say now about him and GSP after their most recent fights?

I really do believe that Silva is one of the best of all time. He's amazing physically. He's a large man, 6'2" and about 190lbs, but can move like a featherweight and is, as said by more than one of his opponents, much stronger beyond his size. He is very, very skilled and highly trained in multiple forms of grappling, striking, and hybrid martial arts. He is such a natural fighter, as seen in his remarkably fluid motions and outstanding combat instinct. His only weakness is his attitude. I'm sure he's insanely dedicated and works very hard, but his disrespect to other fighters may be his downfall one day. I mean, he definitely can back up every word he says. No doubt. But a more reserved and respectful attitude would top off this truly amazing athlete.

But I'm not here to hate. I meant no disrespect by what I said. Props to Silva. He's truly one of the guys that found his calling.

agreed. hard not to put silva at the top of any all time great fighters list. I wonder how much of the U.S.'s dislike for him personally can be attributed to the language barrier? i'm sure he actually speaks fine english, but his desire to always use a translator when it comes to the public kind of puts a barrier between him and U.S. fans of the sport

though i agree about the language barrier thing, it also seems as if he's been painted as the "bad guy" in order to hype some of the fights he's been in.  Silva does carry himself as cocky, but some people's confidence can easily be misconstrued as cockiness.  he's the modern day Ali in that you either love him or hate him but can't possibly take away his abilities.  think back not even 2 years ago … before those 2 fights he had in which Dana White was ready to give him the boot, no one talked about his attitude.  they only talked about how he could disarm and dismantle his opponents with ease.

regardless of all that, he can sure as heck fight and i'm hoping GSP is ready for that superfight we're being teased with.

I was extremely dissapointed with Torres, I was telling my friends how exciting this weight class was right before the fight. Torres playing it safe is a horrible thing to watch.

Anderson really proved what a great fighter he really is.

Great point anointed. I totally agree. I guess I havn't had time to pay too close of attention to the UFC in the last six months and was just going off of what I saw. I think comparing him to Ali is very appropriate. I also think when someone is that good, confidence and having fun with it can come off as cocky. Silva never really goes, "Hey I'm better and no one can beat me." He just relaxes and lets his well-deserved confidence shine. I'm a little torn on how to see him at the moment. I understand Dana White's hype strategy of pinning him the 'bad guy', he is a business man and fight promoter. Silva is also one of the best and has deep confidence that he can easily back up with full force.

I guess time will tell how he turns out. He either turns into a Mike Tyson, a Muhammad Ali, or just rides the line.

dickey, you mentioned his ability to just relax and that right there is one of his greatest attributes in his fights.  he lets the fight come to him, as best displayed by his match with Chael Sonnen.  he took a whoopin' for 90% of the fight, but if you watched the preview show last week he mentioned about (either him or his corner) realized that he was keeping his guard low and pulled off the triangle after he noticed some of Chael's tactics for ground and pound.  was it Monday-morning quarterbacking?  it doesn't matter.  the fact is he can maintain composure in the thick of a beating.  also, the fun factor you mentioned, paired with the confidence could throw people off.  i've got to admit it thought he was a cocky S.O.B. for a while, but that stuff is really starting to make sense.  the guy's a freakin' living legend.  oh, one last rant … some sites were dusche-bagging Segal — all i've got to say is that that dude knows his aikido and is pretty amazingly fast, even at his age, regardless of some of his movies a cheese-fests.

Yeah I wouldn't mess with Segal. He seems like one of those guys who actually can kill with one finger. I've watch some old school akido videos with him and it was so fluid and amazing that it seemed staged, but I later read that the guys were actually trying to get to him, he just would sidestep and twist a wrist and they went flying. I also saw a short clip of Segal training Silva, and Segal was much quicker than Silva at times. He would tell Silva to jab his quickest jab and Segal would just turn his head and catch Silva in the throat before Silva even knew what happened. It was amazing. They had to replay a few of them at a slower speed so you could see what Segal was actually doing.

Segal is a legit martial artist. In an open fight outside I'm pretty sure he could do pretty well for himself
