Anybody watching the Dunham vs Griffin fight should be glued to the tube and see the importance, relevance, and applicability of the Back Mount Escape Series and the Rear Arm Trap.

AWESOME!

WORST PREDICTION EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha

Hey Dr. Sick When I was watching that fight I was thinking Arm trap!!! If only Tyson Griffin were a member of Damage control members section, the fight may have turned out very differently.

Yeah naturalbornfighter1, that was pretty bad.  I didn't even bother putting my predictions up, I would have had more or less identical picks.  I'm horrible at predicting fights.

Dude, Griffin practically went for the Shin Lock, Reverse Heel Lock and Step Over Ankle Crank.  He just didn't know that they were there.  But his hands and positioning were pretty much doing it.  Now you guys know how sneaky those little locks can be.  The cool thing is that it was  a perfect case study in when you should use those techniques.  Griffin did everything in his power to escape and couldn't.  The first time his back was taken, it was toward the bottom half of the round.  Had he escaped there wasn't a lot he could have done anyway.  Why the Hell not go for the counter series vs the escape series in that situation?

I don't mean to be a Monday night Arm Chair Cage Fighter but it was a beautiful example of the importance of that series.

Conveniently, the Body Anaconda was also a factor in the fight.  I'm putting up those counters as part of the Back Mount Escape and Counter Series as I type.

Found this link on usatoday.com  On the front page.  It's a breif recap of UFC 115.

As we've discussed many times in the gym, the goal of your techniques in a fight (not in training) is to break the spirit of your opponent, not his body.  Rich Franklin is a great case study on this subject.  A broken body, but a spirit that prevailed.

Credit to Rich, He didn't moan or grumble at all. He just kept fighting believing he would get a chance to finish and he did. I felt bad for Chuck. His punch resistance seems to have dissapeared altogether.

I think the victory over Chuck Liddell sealed his Hall of fame entry, The only people to have beat him are amongst the best fighters in the world, Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida and his decision loss to Dan Henderson was highly disputed. He's been fighting top class competition since entering the UFC in 1993. He was already a shoe in but I think the win over Chuck sealed the deal.

Hell yeah.  I've always admired Franklin's spirit.  I remember watching a UFC All Access on him years ago.  He would run on his treadmill for 5 minutes, then stop and try to bring his heartbeat down during a one minute rest.  Did this over and over simulating rounds.

And this was on his own time at home before hitting the gym for "real" training.

NBF1 – I think Franklin deserves to be a Hall Of Famer.  For awhile (until Anderson Silva), he was untouchable at Middleweight.

AAAAAAAOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Wow, that looks real sore! Poor Franklin, I was wincing while watching that. Again stuff like this highlights the reality of fighting, away from the arena of adoring fans, forgetting about the money, sponsorship, fame and  respect and just seeing the part most people forget about. Excellent video, thanks for sharing Dr.Sick. They should feature this on the next countdown show Franklin's on.
