OfflineI'm real excited! For a long time I've been in quite a bit of debt and it's prevented me from going to local shows and getting real good training. Thankfully Dr.Sick and Coach Kiser have built this amazing site and I can get top quality instruction. Thanks again guys. Unfortunatly I'm probably in more debt than ever heehee but money isn't everything, right?
I've had a friend for years who always said fighting was mindless aggression with no technique or substance to it other than thuggery. He always maintained that you would have to be mentally challenged to attempt it. He was in no way a prude or anything. He was brought up in a real crazy part of Glasgow, He'd been Stabbed, had his nose broken multiple times with bottles and sticks and been in a number of street fights when he was young. When I'd try to enlighten him he would walk away telling me that I wasn't going to change his mind and it was just for barbarians.
He was seeing MMA like the early days of the UFC and he was looking at it through the eyes of a reformed streetfighter that had seen the ugly truth of his fighting past. He must have thought I didn't realise the brutality of real fighting.
One day I got sick of it I took him into the dance studio in my work and made him listen to me, I started to show him technical fighting from standing up to the clinch to the ground and back up again. After that day he WAS enlightened. He saw the art and science behind it all. Now he is training 3 times a week in Muay Thai and does Grappling with me too. He has the bug! Woo hooooo!!!!!!!!
As a treat my buddy bought me a ticket to go see a Muay Thai show in Paisley, Scotland on Saturday night! WOO HOO!!!! I'm so excited. It's been a long time since I last saw Thai Fights live and I really can't wait!!
Also, he's started training with a few of my buddies and me on a Monday night in my work. We have an old punch bag and 1 decent Thai pad then a bunch of crappy old ones. He's ordered two new Hayabusa pads off the internet for us to train with – WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Another bonus is a small Thai boxing gym has just opened round the corner from me! It'll help me out because It's a 20-30 minute drive to my regular Thai gym and the same back again. It adds a lot of time onto my day as I am pretty much always watching my kids If I'm not at work. I can nip out, train for an hour then get right back again instead of being away for 2-3 hours.
I can't wait for this weekend!!!!!
Very exciting. You gotta keep us posted on how the moves in Members Section work out for you guys. For myself, I really want to learn the new subs from back defense.
So cool that you're going to live Muay Thai fights! Recently I've been watching stadium fights in Thailand on YouTube. Maybe I can talk my wife into a trip there one of these years.

That's awesome about the tickets to the Fights and the new gym opening up near you. Man kids make life tough. It's so nice to be able to get away for that one hour. I hope it all works out. And heh, even if it doesn't we'll all get our heads together and figure out a way to get you that hour of time for you.

OfflineThanks Dr.Sick! My situation is kinda different to most. My wife is a psychiatric nurse and she works 13 hour shifts so she starts at 7 in the morning and gets home just after 20.30 at night. I work in a leisure centre and I work 2-10 most days. It's very unsociable hours. In the morning I get up about 8 and get the girls dressed, fed and stuff then drop my oldest girl off at school for 9. Then I watch my youngest girl in the morning and drop her off at nursery at 1pm. (It's between 9 and 1 I get on the computer haha) Then I leave for work. I'll get home about 22.40 at night, see my wife again then go to bed. Thats pretty much my regular day. I get the odd Thursday off which is good but I only get between 1 and 3 to myself. Better than nothing though.
My work quietens down around 20.45 or so and If there's not a lot going on I can get to train in my work for an hour before I leave. I'm used to the routine but training in my own work is just never the same as going to the real gym with all the fighters looking to achieve the same goals. In a couple of years my youngest girl will be in school and I'll have all morning 9-2 to do what I want. I'll miss my wee buddy a lot though. I don't get to see my girls anywhere near as much as I would like either. One day I'll be a millionaire and I'll train whenever I want to haha!

OfflineJust to let you guys know The Muay Thai show last night was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I loved it, two fighters from my gym were in action. One stepped in on a day's notice and managed to get a draw and the other stepped in on two day's notice and won. It gave me an inspiration boost to start training properly again and up my training to get my fitness back up to it's maximum. There were two fight's where one of the fighters looked a little chubby around the stomach and both were stopped with body shots. It reminded me to work on my abs more. It's the one part of training I neglect more than anything else. It just really bores me. What a great night, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
