OfflineTo be honest I think the media is fuelling the Riots. It hasn't affected me too much because we live so far away. But one of my wife's cousins lives in London and they were rioting outside her flat. She was up all night in fear of her flat being set on fire. It's a disgusting situation. I think a minority of people don't care about why the rioting is going on, they just see people looting and think why not join in. I've seen people on Facebook trying to start riots up here in Scotland just so they can get away with causing carnage and stealing. Im disgusted with them all. I feel terrible for all the hard working, good individuals that are being affected by these thugs.
In your opinion, do you think if the average citizen could obtain a license for a firearm that there would be as much mayhem there? Nutnfancy, a gear review guy on youtube seems to believe that ready access to fire arms for the average citizen would keep that sort of craziness to a minimum.
I don't know if it would or wouldn't. I just want to know what your opinion is. Regardless of whether it would help or not. I know I feel more secure having that right.

OfflineWell to be honest, growing up we've had very little access to any kind of firearms at all they're common amongst gangsters but the average people don't have them and have never felt the need to have them. The more common type of thinking over here is the more people with guns the more trouble there will be.
Personally I don't think it would help the current situation too much because the civilians that would have firearms would be using them in last resort scenario's only. The thugs would be the very first people to apply for licences, They would be using the guns to threaten and even shoot people and due to this more familiarity they would in turn be more well versed in usage of the weapon than the common man.
Usually the police have good control of riots and such, In this case it has gotten out of hand. There would be a few instances where guns may help but in the long run gun crime would take over.
I may be completely wrong but I would feel very scared if civilians could purchase firearms legally. It's totally Alien to us over here.

OfflineI know, It's so strange to think that in the U.S. you're brought up in a gun culture and you feel safe having the right to own firearms. I'd want nothing to do with them personally. I agree with pretty much everything you post but the whole gun thing just seems nuts heehee. I don't mean to offend at all, It's just different cultures with different mentalities.
I think the Riots have calmed down, I'm not totally sure, I've been so preoccupied with the birth of my new daughter (who was born on the 10th of August) that I've pretty much seen nothing. . . . . . Apart from DCMMA heehee
