I just got done watching the hype show for Hardy vs St. Pierre.
Does any body else think it's as interesting as I do that GSP is training with Renzo Gracie who is the Prodginator of Matt Serra who can still potentially pose a threat in that division?
I'm not judging, I just think its a very interesting situation.

It is interesting, I don't think that Serra will reach the top again at welterweight but is is possible, not only that but Ricardo Almeida (another Renzo Gracie student) has dropped down to welterweight and is won his last two fights and will be facing Matt Brown on march 27th. If he's successfull then it could be only another win before he gets a title shot. I think at the end of the day Renzo is a total professional who would teach anyone that wanted to learn from him but he will syrely reap the benefits too as he's facing Matt Hughes in Abu Dhabi whom GSP has faced three times.

I was with the understanding that GSP has been a Renzo student before the first Serra fight. When it comes to Serra or GSP, Renzo worked with Serra since he was a senior student.

Do you remember the old Billy Crystal programme SOAP?
GSP is being trained by Renzo who is the longtime trainer of GSP's rival Matt Serra who is giving Dan Hardy tips to beat GSP.
Confused – you will be!

I'm not reading too far into that…GSP has been training with Renzo Gracie since before he could speak english, so I don't see that being a problem for him..if anything, it could have been a boon for him when he took Serra down. As far as Matt Serra giving Dan Hardy the "secret" to beat GSP? What exactly would he tell him? The fight may start on the feet, but I can see GSP using a similar strategy to the one he used against BJ Penn…tie him up to get his arms and shoulders fatigued, so the punches come slower and once that's accomplished, play the range game to get the takedown. It's going to be interesting to see how range factors into this fight…Hardy likes to back up and get you to follow him into range for those hooks and GSP entices guys to come into him to get the takedown. Also, at longer range, GSP will throw a lot of kicks, since he's apparently not too worried about being able to shut down any takedown attempts.
