I got a chance this past Saturday to do a short workshop seminar with Reilly Bodycomb of the American Sambo Associaiton.
He is a very good guy and just as open as all the others I have met as part of the ASA.
It was a very casual environment. We started out with some gross motor skill locks, then onto building into more technical locks.
Then we went into some funky submission and finished off with a basic kneebar.
We discussed Sambo and about grass roots growth. Basically he the great thing about sambo is its lack of rank, structure, weight classes. Its just a big wrestle off. You learn to apply your game to the rules defined by the rules and that is sambo. i love that idea. Just do it and compete.
I have 2 DVD on leg locks from him and they are pretty good. And he points out things he has found to be wrong from them. So i got a impromptu revisions.
check him out at http://www.rdojo.com and http://www.ussambo.com for the american sambo association.
here is a clip of a contribution from Mr. bodycomb to damagecontrol mma. http://damagecontrolmma.com/sa…..-of-skill/

OfflineI'm very jealous man, I've been watching his video's on youtube for a long while now. I love his ingenuity. Some of his entries into the leg locks from an MMA standpoint are technically brilliant.
I like the no-rank theory in a lot of ways. It's refreshing.
Hopefully he'll be coming to do a seminar in Scotland soon heehee
