im no expert in any of these styles but i have had some first hand expieriance with some amazing martial artist that reprisents their martial arts.

so leave your thoughts here and lets start arguing/debating witch kick is better.

IMO each kick has their reasons and enough pain to make me throw up

Great post Kensei!  Thanks for sharing.  Human Ballistics, you got to love it.  I call foul on the Muay Thai Kick though.  First, it wasn't a Muay Thai Practitioner, it was a MMA guy.  Booooooooooo.  Second I think he would have done better with a Hop Kick.  Other than that I love the force calculations and the fact that they accounted for differences in size.

Loooove the fight science videos! Good post brother! Also, I agree with the fact that they should have actually had a Muay Thai practitioner, but just because it was numerically the very best, doesn't mean it can't knock the other 3 out ;)

I really enjoyed the clip. Thanks man. fight science is always interesting. I believe the test was very flawed however. I didn't catch if all the participants were the same weight. They all looked similar size but a couple of pounds would make a lot of difference either way.

Secondly I felt bad for the Karate guy. A front kick will never match a round kick for explosive power. They should all have performed a similar kick. The other three were similar enough.

As Dr.Sick said why use an MMA guy? If they are studying strict and seperate disciplines then the MMA guy will devote more training to groundwork, Wrestling and cage tactics. They should have used a Muay Thai only guy.

Still interesting to see the power in Capoeira.

heres also bass rutten,

this is the "mma kick" because mma means 2 or more martial arts mixed together at least the name MMA makes scense to me.

here is bass rutten, if im correct he trained in tae kwon do, kyokushin karate and muay thai from europe(i think it was Dutch or Holland, don't hold me to it though)

that last vid was sick!  i've seen the first one before and was quite surprised about the results.  however, i hand't picked up that the MT kick was from an MMA artist.  i love all the Fight Science stuff with their data and telemetry … i'm a geek at heart.  Cool

Woo! Bas Rutten is one of my heros. Actually working on a pencil portriat of him right now! He is one scary dude. Haha. Cool part about him is, that when he was a little kid, he was constantly picked on and harassed and bullied. Fast forward twenty years and he returns to his class reunion a very accomplished fighter. He challenged any one of his classmates who had bullied him before to a simple light sparring match, and stood there unanswered. What a stud. :)
