Check out the "short shot" type strikes to the neck towards the end.  Very similar to what Sensei Paulson showed in the "Short Shots" article we did a while back.

I can't tell if it's a spoof or serious?  Wow Mr. Seagal looks like he's moved up to Heavyweight. Laughing

I didn't know how to react, I will refreain from any comments positive or negative from myself. Dr. Sick, I seen the brachial stun twards the beginning also, a principle I like. I will be honest i didn't make the whole video, but I seen alot that wouldn't be practical for me. I try to watch whole thing when I get a bit more time.

Wow, That was just completely bizarre. I really don't quite know what to make of it all. Segal can move fast. I agree with wytholar that it might be impractical in parts but in others the Aikido reminded me of some of the Catch wrestling we've seen on here. Could it be an untapped source in MMA?

Good question.  I remember years ago watching old footage of Seagal in his prime.  In demonstrations he would be attacked by a horde and would deflect everyone.

I remember thinking that it was just a demo and probably wouldn't work in real life.  But then later I started wondering if even those moves won't work for double-leg shots, perhaps there are some evasive anti-grappler techniques there to keep from getting caught in a clinch.

Now you guys are thinking.  What I liked most about this clip is how much it reminded me of Kiser and I.  We're willing to go and respectfully sift through an entire art, just to find a few little gems that will give us an edge.  I love how sincere and passionate Anderson seemed.  It's all about being open minded and learning what can work for you.  Great clip.

I think there is stuff you can learn from every art. I did a little bit of Ninjutsu a number of years ago but I didn't like the lack of pressure testing and some of the techniques looked seriously flawed in the TaiJutsu area. Even though I never stuck with it I did learn a lot about the principals of using your bodyweight in each strike and I've tried to integrate it into my whole striking game.
