OfflineI was just coming here to post this. Really interesting pick. For sure. I think it will make TUF 13 really worth watching, but I kind of feel bad for the players picked to be on Lesnar's team. What kind of coaching team can Lesnar put together? We saw in TUF 12 just how important the coaching team is, as well as the ability to strategize for an opponent. I don't think Lesnar can do that. Koshcheck put together a good coaching team, but it wasn't GSP level, and GSP was heads and shoulders above in coaching strategy. Of all the people on Koshchecks team only Nam Phan is going to get a UFC shot. GSP's team may have 3-4. the coach makes a difference and half the people in the house will be handicapped by being picked by Lesnar in my opinion. The reason I say this is we may have some local Utah boys with a shot at getting into the house this season and I'd rather not see them get screwed from the get go.
What kind of coaching team.
Lets see he has had personally had Greg Nelson, Erik Paulson, Randy couture. Marty Morgan is an awsome wrestling coach. Those would all be great coaches to have.
He may not be able to coach, but maybe he can. Who has given him a chance to see. His camp is doing pretty good.. Chris Tuschere lost his last one but other than that they have done decent. Brock is smart, he will do what he needs to do.
I would want to be on team Brock. But that is just me. Just because he is a journeyman that has had his guts beat up verbally from people long before he ever competed, don't discount his skill or smarts. He showed massive problems with his roundness of game in application, doesn't mean he doesn't recognize them. I would bet he knew those weaknesses before he took the fight. He has had two fights after a life altering medical issue. Look how many crappy fights Mir had before he started looking pretty good again.
I don't discount this decision by zuffa, it going to boost tuf ratings. But I honestly believe this reality show has run its course. The talent itself is wanning in my opinion. They need a switch up of some sort.
I hope this is the boost the show needs. But I honestly believe the spike people are running this into the ground.
I'd rather be on Lesnar's team just for the chance to work with Ajarn Greg, Sensei Paulson and Marty Morgan. I hope he incorporates that line up for his staff. Might be a little difficult with seminar schedules etc. but I'd really like to so our coaches get a chance to shine for a new generation of fans and students.
