I could have sworn that when I was flipping through an MMA mag that I saw Jake Paul in there advertising for Bleedout, but it didn't say his name or anything. Can someone confirm or dismiss this?

I sure hope it was him because that we be uber cool…..

A while back an unscrupulous "Manager" brought Jake Paul and Brandon Melendez into my gym for a "Photo Shoot".  He took a number of cool pictures and promised the moon, the sky and anything else you could imagine to these guys and to Brandon and I.  Having been around the block a few times, Kiser and I saw the writing on the wall and keep our distance.

Later, as predicted, the guy left town and things went sour between Jake, Brandon and this "Manager" guy.  He then went and sold the pictures and their rights to some photo agency and now everyone and their dog have been using Brandon and Jake's images for their marketing materials.  I've seen some of the ads.  A couple appeared in Black Belt and also UFC magazine.  I've also seen them on Train Fight Win banners.

It is cool to see them in these mediums.  But it's funny because neither Brandon nor Jake has received so much as a penny for the use of their image.

Beware my aspiring "fighter" types.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Ooops,  I should add that the shady character is in no way shape or form related to the Bleedout company with which we do business with to this day.  Bleedout and Fight Core MMA continue to be wonderful sponsors and supporters of our cause.

Man that stinks for Jake and Brandon. But hey I suppose just to be positive that it is good that their faces are out there.

Too bad they didn't get any kick back though ;-(

That's business for ya. I'm not even out of high school and I've learned that you have to read the fine print well, ask questions, and trust few. At least they could point out an ad and be like, "Yea, that's me." Haha

Man, That kind of thing makes my blood boil!

Fighters are among the hardest working as well as often under appreciated and underpaid professionals you will find. I can't stand of hearing them to be taken advantage of. At least they will have learned from their experience. Hopefully Karma will catch up with that 'manager'

I just heard about a new fight promotion here in Shanghai, and I thought the guy in the lower right hand corner looked familiar:

ruff poster

At first I thought is was really cool that Jake Paul might be coming to fight in China, but then I remembered that Chinese fight promoters always try to throw in ac ouple of random western faces they pulled off the web to make their show look more legit. They've even put pics of me in posters for MMA events I never competed in. Check this one out:

fight show I never fought in

Marcus, the guy in the middle was the only fighter on the poster who actually competed. I had no idea this event was even going on at the time. The bozo pictured next to me on the left is one of those so called "managers" endorsing the show with Jake on the poster. He's also responsible for publishing a bunch of self-promotional materials using pictures of me and a few other fighters without permission. And that pisses me off.

Anyway, I saw the pic, so I visited the mushin site to see if there was any info on any of the fighter corps coming to China any time soon, and then I found this forum- so I'm guessing it's just one of those stock photos circulating around in MMA media that Dr. Sick mentioned.

I was a little suspicious because I also know the Thai fighter pictured in the lower left corner of the poster (second to the right in the group picture above) and I hadn't heard anything about him coming to Shanghai anytime soon either. Plus they gave both him and Jake those photoshopped tattoos, presumably to give the poster some street cred.

Thsi may cost me a big payday, but I won't just stand by while a friend gets extorted. I only trained with Jake once, but he left a lasting impression on me with his professionalism and character. I said this to the promoter of the new MMA show in Shanghai:

I couldn't help notice you have a picture of my friend Jake "the Snake"

Paul on your promotional poster in the lower right hand corner.

I ask where you got the picture from? If you bought the rights to use

that stock photo, you're supporting a fraudulent business that screwed

Jake out of a bunch of money.

Change your poster, or get Jake on

that fight card with a decent paycheck, and I'll support your show 100%

and make sure the gyms I work with do the same.
