Thought I had better introduce myself as I have been visiting the site for a couple of days now and picking up some great stuff.
I am 47 years young and from Scotland and I have just returned to training after a long lay off(15 years). Came back last year and basically done everything wrong and got myself injured on an almost weekly basis who was it that said "the older you get the wiser you get".
I plan to take an amatuer mma fight (my first) later this year and as a result I am currently learning as a beginner Thai Boxing and some mma classes. I think the quality of material here is fantastic I just need some guidance of how to make the most of it. I want to compete for experience and for something to work towards, results not being the goal just the performance.
Any advice appreciated and I will try to put it all to good use.
Brian
Welcome to the forums Brian. As I've said before. It's soo cool to hear from our supporters from across the pond. You guys have been so good to Coach Kiser and I!
If by chance, you have a membership to DamageControlMMA.com there are over 100 videos for you to learn from. As well as the Online Classroom, Lesson Plans and MP3 training clips to assist you in improving your MMA game.
If not, no worries. There are tons of free articles, videos and friends here that will more than happy to help you and hear of your trials and tribulations as you work towards your goals and reap the rewards of your hard work and effort. Please keep us all updated on your progress. I for one will be excited to read about it.
I just had a thought, I know one of our other members, naturalbornfighter1 is a fellow Scott. Perhaps you two could get together and work on some technique. I'd love to hear about DamageControlMMA brining people together to better themselves and enjoy the arts.
I'm sure there are other Scotts on here as well but they've yet to step up and sound off.

OfflineCheers,
I am a member and a really new one at that.
I will keep you all posted of how it all goes, where is the best place to post my attempt to beat "the fear"
I have found the post I was looking for where you gave a conditioning programme to one of the guys for his first thai fight. I will be out of bed early for the first mile run tomorrow.

Sounds like a good idea. Should be a bit of a quiet week this week but you never know.
I work in a college and we close for 11 weeks on Friday and I will be busy with all the admin. Next week will give a clearer pictureof the schedule and hopefully you all can keep me on the right track. I will use this week to start the conditioning. See you on the members forum
